International Experiences Durham College is committed to providing international experiences for our faculty and staff. This commitment is embedded in our academic plan, with the goal to establish and augment internationalization and global engagement initiatives. Internationalization and global engagement opportunities provide DC employees with the tools, resources, understanding and experience required to succeed in this ever-increasing global world. Durham College’s International Education office identifies opportunities that align with our mission, vision, values, and strengths. DC staff and faculty have participated in a number of international projects and global education initiatives to support new program development, teaching and learning, entrepreneurship, and gender equality. Current projects include working with colleges and community organizations in Guyana, Kenya, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. This has led to several exciting initiatives such as working with professionals on national marketing campaigns, supporting new curriculum development in renewable energy, and facilitation of gender equality in the community. DC staff and faculty roles vary in each project and are supported by a team approach, often working with other Canadian colleges. In addition to projects, DC employees have opportunities to create customized global learning experiences for students including working on Faculty Led Classrooms Abroad. Each global education experience provides both DC employees and our students with transformative learning experiences.
