Pre-Admission Assessment Testing for Domestic Applicants Pre-admission assessment testing can be used by mature domestic applicants to meet admission requirements in English and/or math for certificate, diploma, advanced diploma programs, and graduate certificates. Domestic applicants that are 19 years of age or older as of the start date of their program, and who do not have the required program credit(s) i.e., Grade 12 English and/or Grade 12 math are eligible to take an admissions assessment test. Where do I take an assessment test? Durham College (DC) offers in-person assessment testing in English and math through our Test Centre. Can I take the test remotely? Pre-admission assessment testing in English and math is done in-person on-campus. However, DC also accepts the Duolingo English Test (DET) as an online test option in English. Please visit englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants for information about this test. It is the applicant’s responsibility to request that Duolingo test scores are sent to Durham College Admissions (admissions@durhamcollege.ca). Certified test results are available within 48 hours of the test session. How do I book an assessment test? After applying through OCAS, applicants can book an assessment in English and/or Math online through our Test Centre. Should you require any accommodations through our Access and Support Centre (ASC) for your test, you will need to book an appointment with ASC here at least three weeks prior to your scheduled test date. Is there a charge for the assessment test? Yes, applicants will be charged at the time of booking their assessment(s). Applicants taking one test (English or math) will be charged $30 plus HST. Applicants taking both tests (English and math) will be charged $50 plus HST. Types of payment accepted: Credit Card Debit Card What do I need to bring to my admission assessment test? A valid form of government issued photo ID to confirm your identity, applicants should also have their Student ID number to confirm application to a DC program. How will I know my results? You will receive an Individual Score Report via e-mail immediately upon completion of your assessment. This report will inform you whether you have met the minimum admission requirements. Your scores will be submitted to Durham College Admission Services for processing.
