Five Ways to Get Involved on Campus This Winter

Category: Campus Initiative/Event

As the winter semester kicks off and you embrace the beginning of a new year, you may be looking for ways to get involved, make new friends and connections, and discover what the Oshawa and Whitby campuses have to offer.

Here are five ways to get involved on campus and show your #DCpride this winter!

  1. Winter Orientation

Are you new to DC? Throughout the month of January there are several activities and events scheduled to welcome you to campus. Winterfest, late night skate, and open mic night are just a few of the fun ways you can get involved and meet other new students.

Also, we know Durham College is a big place, so if you need help finding your way keep an eye out for ASK ME volunteers wearing branded T-shirts who are stationed throughout both campuses to help you with directions.

  1. Varsity Sports

Show your DC pride by gathering a few new friends and cheering on the Durham Lords! Sit courtside this winter and witness the women’s and men’s teams in action.

  1. Campus Recreation

When you feel great it helps improve your studies. Explore all the options available to you through campus recreation, including intramural teams, sports clubs, fitness classes and even health programs and services through the campus health and wellness centre.

  1. Student Clubs

With more than 60 student clubs at DC, you are bound to find one that is a fit for you. From gaming to the arts to cheerleading and philanthropy, these clubs are created and managed by students just like you who are looking to connect with others who have similar interests.

  1. On-campus Employment

If you’re looking for a way to make new friends, gain workplace experience and make an income that’s flexible with your class schedule, then working on campus may be for you! It’s designed to help full-time students who have a financial need while also helping them achieve their personal and academic goals.
