Durham College has been granted consent by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities to offer this applied degree for a seven-year term starting December 21, 2020. In conformity with the Minister’s criteria and requirements, DC will submit an application for the renewal of the consent for this program 12 months prior to the expiration of the consent. DC will ensure that all students admitted to this program will have the opportunity to complete the program within a reasonable time frame.

This unique program takes advantage of access to state-of-the art facilities and resources the Whitby campus. Students will acquire the knowledge and expertise necessary to fill roles in leadership and management positions in the construction industry.
Students will gain a firm grounding in the theory, principles and practices of construction science, as well as the business acumen and leadership skills to effectively facilitate the management of construction projects to successful completion. They have a further opportunity to advance their learning through 14-week field placement options.
HBCM graduates will have the foundational knowledge to pursue additional certifications including the Gold-Seal Certified (GSC) by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), and Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS), Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI), In addition, graduates of the program will have the knowledge and skills to pursue further graduate study in construction management or related fields.
Graduates of the HBCM program will be prepared to make meaningful contributions to the prosperity, sustainability and resiliency of Ontario’s economic future.

In person
Students will come to campus to complete in-person learning requirements. Detailed schedules, with course-specific delivery information, will be available after registration. Courses, course descriptions and delivery formats are subject to change.
Through two field placements, one optional, students will synthesize in-class theory and real-world experience. This program's final semester includes an integrative project that allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to complete a construction project through the entire lifecycle as part of a team. Students research construction materials, theory and methods to successfully complete their project and leverage their technical, analytical and creative skills to solve problems that arise during the project.
Graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Construction Management will be eligible to pursue graduate education. Credential recognition currently exists for the following graduate-level programs:
Pathways
Graduates of the Civil Engineering Technology advanced diploma program at Durham College are eligible to apply to transfer into the Honours Bachelor of Construction Management degree program, receiving up to 45 transfer credits of the 120 degree level credits, resulting in a reduced course load.
Students will begin the program in the fourth semester and complete the program in five semesters.
