Oshawa, Ontario Canada Details: In Ontario, the first week of November is recognized as Treaties Recognition Week. This week honours the treaties made between Indigenous nations and the Crown in the right of Ontario over the past 250 years. It is dedicated to educating the public about the historical and contemporary significance of treaties, the rights and responsibilities they entail, and their impact on Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Durham College (DC) is situated on land covered by the Williams Treaties, which were signed in 1923 between Ontario and Canadian Governments and seven First Nation communities (Rama, Beausoleil, Georgina Island, Alderville, Curve Lake and Hiawatha). Understanding the spirit and intent of these treaty relationships is vital for fostering new connections based on mutual respect and benefit between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. + Google Calendar+ iCal Export
