Black History Month Posted on February 2, 2024 at 11:31 am. February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the legacies of Black Canadians. This year’s theme is “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build”. It represents the opportunity to honour the rich past and present contributions and accomplishments of Black people in Canada, while aspiring to embrace new opportunities for the future. The Library has curated a virtual collection of books and videos, highlighting those who use their talents to uplift , speak the truth, and inspire. There is also a wide variety of films and documentaries from different streaming platforms that celebrate Black stories: Kanopy National Film Board of Canada Durham College acknowledges Black History Month by raising the Pan-African flag at its campuses, and the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is hosting events this month to celebrate and explore the unique aspects of Black wellness, including racial equity in the workforce.
