Chairman’s Charity Classic to welcome more than 200 golfers to 15th annual tournament Posted on June 2, 2011 at 6:51 pm. June 2, 2011 Event has raised close to $4 million dollars for students and creation of regional Abilities Centre AJAX, Ont. – For the fifteenth year, Region of Durham Chairman Roger Anderson will welcome golfing enthusiasts and community dignitaries for the Durham Region Chairman’s Charity Classic golf tournament, being held on Thursday, June 9 at the Deer Creek Golf Club and Banquet Facility in Ajax. Regarded as one of the most successful fundraising golf tournaments in Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area, the annual event will directly benefit students in financial need at Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and assist with the creation of the region’s Abilities Centre. Since its inception, the Chairman’s Charity Classic has raised close to $4 million dollars including $341,500 at last year’s tournament. During the tournament, players will have the chance to win one of three Ford Mustang Cobras provided by Fraser Ford in Oshawa, Ont. This year’s event also features a variety of exciting live and silent auction prizes including a VIP trip for two to the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, Que.; a one-week stay at a condominium in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach; lunch with the Honourable Jim Flaherty; a Briars Golf Club excursion; Durham College and UOIT tuition packages and much more.
