Provincial government introduces tuition rebate Posted on January 6, 2012 at 12:31 pm. Ontario college and university students can now apply to the new 30% Off Ontario Tuition grant making post-secondary education more affordable and attainable to students while strengthening the province`s workforce. The new grant, announced by Premier Dalton McGuinty on January 5, takes effect immediately and means that eligible university or college degree students will receive $800 for this semester and college diploma and certificate students will receive $365. This September the grant will apply to the full school year with students in a university or college degree program saving $1,600 and students in college diploma and certificate programs saving $730. More than 300,000 students are eligible to receive the grant this year. Students who already receive funds through OSAP will have their applications submitted automatically. To qualify for the grant students must be less than four years out of high school and their parents’ gross income must be $160,000 or less. Students with disabilities may receive the grant for up to six years of study. To find out more about this new initiative, please visit the Office of the Premier`s website. SHARE:
