DC graduate shoots and scores a winning career Posted on July 30, 2012 at 10:55 am. Not everyone can say they love their job but for Tricia Leone, a 2010 Durham College Sport Business Management graduate, working for the Oshawa Generals is what anyone would call a dream job. She loves what she does, has fun doing it and, most importantly, she finds it rewarding. “I can safely say that working for the Oshawa Generals has been an exciting and amazing ride thus far,” said Leone. “Having a job in the sports industry keeps you on your toes and involves working long hours and weekends but that’s what makes it so entertaining and exciting.” Graduating from her program with honours Leone completed a field placement with the Oshawa Generals (Generals) and was then hired for a five-month contract right after graduation. Her contract was then extended to a full-time position with new roles and responsibilities. “Durham College’s reputation for its Sport Management programs has always been positive and I can only add to that,” added Leone. “I gained valuable hands-on experience that helped me to succeed in the industry. The college has great networking capabilities and the faculty was always willing to go the extra mile to help students.” As manager of Community Relations and Merchandise, Leone oversees all of the community programs the Generals participate in and manages all aspects of the team’s store. “Every day there is something new to look forward to, whether it’s getting ready for a game day, preparing for a community event or planning new programs,” said Leone. “Right now I wouldn’t trade my job for anything.” SHARE:
