Clinical consolidation and field placement provide the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills from throughout the dental assisting program to the clinical setting and client care, while working collaboratively with members of the dental healthcare team. The field placement component provides work integrated learning within a community dental office for further understanding and development of the knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired through the Dental Assisting program. Application of these skills contributes to the consolidation of the learning outcomes and prepares students to excel in their roles as ethical and proficient dental assistants, contributing to the delivery of high-quality dental care. Field placement will occur following clinical consolidation, approximately 2 weeks after the completion of semester 2.
