Working With Indigenous Clients

Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the cultural and historical contexts of Indigenous peoples in Canada, with a focus on working effectively with Indigenous clients. Students will recognize the significant impacts of colonization, residential schools, and ongoing systemic discrimination on Indigenous peoples and their communities; and realize indigenous approaches to conflict and peace making. Through practical exercises and reflection students will develop cultural sensitivity, an awareness of their role in reconciliation, and apply their learning to build respectful and collaborative relationships with Indigenous clients.
