Surgical and Laboratory Preparation

Students explore the role of veterinary assisting with common surgical, dental, and diagnostic procedures performed in companion animal practice. Students identify and prepare standard equipment and supplies used in the veterinary hospital setting, including setting up and using the microscope, packing and wrapping surgical supplies, and patient positioning for medical procedures. Safety protocols are discussed to support healthy workplace conduct. Students participate in simulation exercises, hands-on labs, small and large group work, and individual activities.
