Business Principles

The Business Principles course is for students who are taking the project management certificate program. This course will cover a wide variety of introductory topics that relate to the management of a company (or other organization) and will focus on the factors that affect the success of businesses in Canada. The course will expose the student to the major functional areas of a business, including Operations, Human Resources, Finance & Accounting, and Marketing, as they relate to project management and the Project Management Institute (PMI®). The topics will cover the areas that will enable the student to have an understanding of basic business principles. After completing this course, students will be able to identify different kinds of business types, understand at a basic level doing business in a global economy, explain management techniques, business structures, operational objectives, analysis of financial resources, and be able to differentiate ethical and sustainable business practices.
