Digital Resources For Art And Design

This course explores the integration and translation of traditional two- and three-dimensional art media in to digital media. Through lectures, demonstrations, and tutorials students will learn to use the Apple operating system, and a variety of design and image creation and manipulation software such as the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc. Emphasis will be on using digital imaging as a medium for artistic expression and documentation, as opposed software proficiency. The concepts for the "digital environment" and "digital work flow" will be introduced and developed. Students will also learn the various digital and information technology (IT) resources available to them at the College and through the School of Media Art and Design (MAD); including MyCampus and the College's Learning Management System (LMS) DC Connect; video and photographic equipment sign out, colour printing and server access for file storage, etc.
