This course is designed to assist students in preparing for their fieldwork placement in Semester 3. It explores the Child and Youth Care Counsellor as a professional within the context of performance standards, code of ethics, self awareness, professional identity and professional advocacy. Particular emphasis is placed on the student's growth and development as a professional person with a focus on responsibility, accountability and professional commitment expectations of a Child and Youth Care Counsellor. Additionally, this course is designed to bridge the gap between academic course work and the knowledge, skills, and emotional challenges and rewards beyond the classroom.
