Students explore the use of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) in the administration and management of human resources, how to assess needs, plan, implement and maintain an HRIS. The aim of this course is to provide students with the foundational skills required for success in this information age using a fully integrated business application, while maintaining the integrity of a system being an integral part of a company wide fundamental business process. The implementation of such an application will impact the Human Resources professional with the ability to execute practical organizational decision-making, that will have a direct impact on the Human Capital Management (HCM) for an organization. Students' learning is supported by Canadian based software designed for the business professional as part of an integrated business solutions software. Its Human Capital Management (HCM) module is used to demonstrate aspects of integrated business applications, fundamental business processes in the context of human resources management and experience the software firsthand. Through lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises and case studies, students acquire end-user level proficiency in collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and distributing employee related information according to business requirements.
