Behavioural Perspectives On Language, Cognition, and Thinking

This course will built on students' knowledge of the basic principles of behaviour and examines complex behaviour via dominant conceptualizations of the development of language, cognition, and thinking. Students will develop knowledge and a critical understanding of concepts, current advances, theoretical approaches, and assumptions involved in the analysis of human language. Students will distinguish between structural and functional analyses of language as well as historical and contemporary theories, and evaluate how those theories influence understanding of cognition and thinking.
