This subject is divided into two components: career management essentials and business management essentials. Career: This section of the course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the career development process to prepare for sport business internships and future employment. The combination of self-assessment, professional skill profile, job market information and career search techniques prepares students for their field placement and provides the life-long skill of career management. Business: This section focuses on the leadership and management skills essential for success in the 21st century. The focus will be on the leadership and management challenges facing professionals in sport/recreation related settings. Students may be involved in an off-campus experience which will provide an opportunity to practise leadership skills.
