There is a growing trend for Project Managers (PMs) to work as consultants/advisors for clients and organizations in a wide variety of industries. Course delivery provides students with opportunities to formulate, practice and apply consultancy management in a class setting. This course includes preparation to core concepts which will be utilized in our second semester PROM 1201 class. Course content examines the role of PMs as internal and external consultants, providing insights to students on how to professionally engage clients and stakeholders to successfully reach their strategic objectives and gain a competitive advantage. The course will introduce consulting methodologies, models, best practices and "how to" recommendations. We will also focus on additional skills required to succeed as a consultant including (but not limited to) effective communication, influencing, critical-thinking and problem solving.
