This course enhances students' Excel analytical skills and deepens their knowledge of advanced features and tools for business analysis. Business analytics involves using data for fact-based decision-making and action-driven management. Supply chain managers face high-volume, diverse, and fast-paced data, making data interpretation crucial. The course covers reporting, visualization, and prediction—key for making sound business decisions in uncertain circumstances. They will also explore business analytic tools, techniques, and build end-to-end solutions, including: • Connecting to internal and external data related to business performance, customers, suppliers, competitors, and industry trends. • Cleaning, transforming, and merging data • Performing complex data analysis. • Creating interactive visualizations, predictive models, and dashboards for decision-makers. • Tools used in the course include Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI. Students seeking to obtain their Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Excel Expert Certification will have the opportunity to pay for and schedule their Excel Expert Exam at the test center on a day and time that works with their schedule. Furthermore, they will receive complimentary access to exam preparation software called GMetrix. This software aims to support self-study, enabling students to build on and enhance the concepts they learned in COMP 1119 during semester 1.
