Equity Inclusion and Anti-Oppressive Practices

This course introduces students to an anti-oppression framework that supports justice and equity for members of diverse populations while challenging patterns of oppression and discrimination. Students will examine how historical oppression and social exclusion continue to impact affected communities in Canada today. They will explore their own social location and how it relates to power and privilege, intersectionality and marginalization. Finally, they will consider how this influences their personal and professional values and the impact these have on building positive relationships with diverse communities
