On January 29, 2015, I attended the Fifth-Annual Powering Prosperity Awards. This event hosted an awards ceremony for sustainable energy companies. This was a great opportunity to network with companies and experience what it is like to be around successful entrepreneurs.

Those in attendance included community leaders from aboriginal communities and government representatives including Ontario’s Green Party leader. I had the pleasure of being seated beside the president of SolarShare, Mike Brigham, and Ontario Federation of Agriculture’s researcher, Ted Cowan. Everyone at the event was extremely friendly to our Durham College group and even told us what companies to watch/apply for once we are finished school.  

I can’t wait to attend an event like this again, either through school opportunities or from my own accomplishments. Attending this event gave me a feeling of inspiration that stayed with me for many days afterwards.
