POWERING PROSPERITY AWARDS CEREMONY 2015

By Tanya McDonald

I’m in the Environmental Technology program at Durham College, so when Tanya emailed me about the possibility of attending the Powering Prosperity Awards Ceremony, I was ecstatic.

While waiting for dinner to be served, we were greeted by Joanna from Women in Renewable Energy. She shared knowledge and advice about the many ways students can get involved in their community.

At our table, we were joined by Mike Brigham, president of SolarShare, whom later in the evening won the award for Project of the Year. We were also in the company of Ted Cowan, a researcher for the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. Both gentlemen were very friendly and offered us some advice for job seeking after graduation, as well as insight to what they’ve accomplished.

Overall I felt welcomed and was impressed by the organization of the event.
