Medical Clinic Our Campus Health and Wellness Centre provides essentially all services you would expect from a family doctor or medical clinic in a professional and confidential manner. Walk-in services are currently available, although limited. Our goal is to provide high quality medical care in a timely manner. Please note: Students must possess and bring a student card and a valid health card International/ out of province students must bring a printed copy of their health insurance coverage card Services (i.e. Doctor visits, treatment of illness/ injury, hospital visits, medical services) are covered by: Domestic Students OHIP (Please ensure card is not expired) Other provincial health insurance plans International Students UHIP, (OntarioTech International Students) Student VIP (Durham College International Students) There are some exceptions: please see our Uninsured Services tab 24 hours must be given to cancel an appointment or you will be charged: $40 for medical appointments $25 for nursing appointments Appointments are intended for a single health concern and are approximately 10 minutes in length. Multiple health concerns may require more than one appointment. Inform the receptionist of any changes in your personal health information Our policy is developed based on the recommendations and guidelines of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the Ontario Medical Association. PHARMACY Lovell Drugs is located in the Campus Health Centre. Common reasons to visit the pharmacy include: Fill your prescription Purchase birth control Ask the pharmacist questions about your medication Check your blood pressure Purchased over the counter medication for headache, colds, flu, etc. Purchase personal supplies (condoms, vitamins, first aid supplies) Services available include: Drug Plan Management Free prescription delivery (to staff) Health Inform Program Compliance packaging Private consultations E-refills Visit the Lovell Drugs website for more information on the services available. Medication management. Referrals to specialists as needed. HEALTH EDUCATION Review of sexual health resources and counselling, smoking cessation programs, dietary education and resources for adapting to a new country. MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION Review of available mental health resources and supports for students including counselling services, mental health nurses, coaching, crisis support and psychiatry referrals. Durham College Students: Student VIP/Medavie Blue Cross is a basic health insurance and covers Doctors visits. Please note that every time you visit the Campus Health and Wellness Centre you will need a physical copyof your International Student Plan. Students will need to present a second piece of identification with their full name shown when using Student VIP/Medavie Blue Cross at the CHWC. Durham College students have access to additional insurance coverage with Student VIP which helps in covering prescription drugs, extended health (i.e. vision, chiropractor, physiotherapy), and dental. The extended coverage (Student VIP) does not cover every service 100%. Yes the CHWC has male and female doctors. If you have a gender preference please let our reception clerks know when booking an appointment. Does the CHWC offer optometry services (i.e. prescriptions for glasses)? We do not provide optometry services. Does the CHWC have a nutritionist?
