Workshops and Drop-ins

Connections

A biweekly group for survivors and their supporters. This group is a safe space for survivors and allies to come together, support their peers and chat about a range of topics such as mental wellness, self-care, and getting connected. Participants will also have the chance to complete a guided craft (painting, colouring, crocheting, etc.). Discussion topics will be decided weekly by participants and a list of materials will be sent out prior to the group.

Alternating Wednesdays from 3pm to 4pm.

Please email svsupport@durhamcollege.ca to register.

Supporting Survivors: Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Violence Workshop

What does it mean to take a disclosure? When talking about sexual violence, is there a difference between disclosures and reporting? What support options exist for the campus community? We understand that responding to a disclosure can be difficult. That’s why we encourage everyone to join us for a conversation about how to respond to sexual violence disclosures and learn how to have a positive impact on survivors. To register for one of these workshops, please email svsupport@durhamcollege.ca.

Yes Means Yes

What is Yes Means Yes?

The Yes Means Yes campaign is dedicated to building a safe and inclusive campus, free from all forms of sexual violence. Through sessions and events, educational campaigns, and student outreach the Yes Means Yes campaign strives to foster conversation on consent and build a community of active bystanders.

Yes Means Yes student advocates act as active role models for the college community by educating students about sexual violence and the importance of consent. Volunteers assist with events such as Sexual Violence Awareness Week and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence event in addition to encouraging peers to contribute to the conversation on eliminating sexual violence.
