Microsoft 365 (M365) changes Durham College is proud to have more than 110,000 alumni who have passed through our halls and benefited from a dynamic DC education. Over the years, the digital footprint of our students who have moved on has grown exponentially with a large volume of data in our system that is unsustainable for us as an organization for both technical and financial reasons. Due to Microsoft’s new terms for DC’s Microsoft 365 contract, we are making changes to M365 access for alumni, including former students who have withdrawn or taken a break of more than a year from their studies, to help us better manage our technology resources. These changes will impact access to DCMail, Office 365 including apps like Word and Excel, and OneDrive storage accessed via your DC credentials. As you move along your career journey after completing your studies at DC, we value your time with us and want to keep you connected to our college and alumni community. Learn more about keeping in touch with us as well as exclusive benefits available to DC alumni. Find out how the M365 changes impact you: ALUMNI There are new terms to Durham College’s (DC) Microsoft 365 contract and as a result, changes are coming to your account. Am I impacted? These changes affect DC alumni whose last course ended prior to 2023 including students who have graduated, withdrawn or paused their studies. Our most recent graduates will have access to their student accounts for a 12-month period after completing their last course. What are the changes? Effective February 1, 2024, Microsoft limited alumni users to a maximum of 100GB of OneDrive storage. If you exceed the 100GB threshold, you will still be able to log in to your account, but you will be restricted from uploading any new files until your account storage usage is lowered to below the 100GB threshold. Effective August 1, 2024, DC alumni can continue to use Microsoft Office web-based services, however you will no longer be able to download the services as desktop applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). There may be more changes in the coming weeks, so please check this section again. What steps should I take? You are encouraged to review content in your DC OneDrive and DC Mail email and transfer anything you want saved to another platform. What if I don’t remember my login/password? All users should continue to keep login credentials private. IT Services will never ask you for your password. If you forget your password, or exceed the maximum number of failed login attempts, you can use the self-service password reset at https://durhamcollege.ca/reset. If you require further assistance with the Microsoft Authenticator app or your password, the IT Service Desk is available for support at 905.721.3333, servicedesk@durhamcollege.ca or at https://servicedesk.dc-ot.ca.
