What is the DC Connect Video Assignment Tool?
The Video Assignment tool in DC Connect allows faculty to create individual projects and assignments for your students to complete virtually (asynchronous). You can use Video Assignments to facilitate individual presentations, mock job interviews, repeated skill practice, and peer-to-peer collaboration. Once students complete a Video Assignment, they submit their recording to the instructor for review and grading.
The steps below will guide you in creating individual projects and assignments for your students to complete virtually. For quick reference, these steps are as followed:
- STEP 1) Add a Video Assignment in DC Connect
- STEP 2) Set-up your assignment
- STEP 3) Add the Video Assignment to the Content section of your course so students can access it (required)

Faculty Instructions:
STEP 1) Add a Video Assignment in DC Connect
From the Activities menu, click on “Video Assignments”.
Once you are on the Assignments page, click the Plus icon in the bottom right corner.
Pick the video assignment type you would like to use: Individual project, Group project, Question & Answer, or Interactive Video.
STEP 2) Set-up your assignment
Follow the instructions below to set-up your assignment:
- Individual Project
- Group Project
- Question & Answer
- Interactive Video
Advanced Settings: Turn on 'peer review'. This allows students to review their peers work and provide constructive feedback. Step-by-step instructions available here.
STEP 3) Add the Video Assignment to the Content section of your course so students can access it (required)
Then, add the Video Assignment to the Content section of your course so students can access it.
Go to the Content section of our Course, then in the module you would like to add it, select “Add Existing Activities” and then “Video Assignment Link”.
Choose the Video Assignment you would like to add.
The Video Assignment will be added into your content module so students can access it.
It is recommended that you have Video Assignments open in a new window. To do this, select the action menu to the right of the Video Assignment name and choose “Edit Properties In-place".
Then enable “Open as External Resource” located in the bottom right corner. This will open a new window with the student clicks on the Video Assignment.
