Bodyswaps

BODYSWAPS LICENSING HAS BEEN EXTENDED FROM APRIL 2024 TO MARCH 2025!
This licensing includes unlimited use of Bodyswaps with the set of 8 VR headsets (available for sign-out from the IT Service Desk). Mobile and desktop versions of Bodyswaps are NOT available as part of this licensing. However, a limited number of licenses have been purchased for accessibility purposes so students can use the mobile or desktop version if needed.

Bodyswaps is a VR application that contains a suite of immersive simulations for soft skills training in a range of categories including:

  • Employability
  • Communication
  • Management
  • Diversity Equity & Inclusion
  • Healthcare

Most scenarios follow a format where students first observe a scenario and identify key behaviours. Next, they have an opportunity to engage in a conversation or activity and respond in their own words, using their voice and body language, then swap bodies and watch themselves from another perspective. At the end of the simulation, a custom report is provided on behaviour analysis and semantics. Specific scenarios, such as an interview simulation, also include suggested feedback through Generative AI.

Interested in piloting Bodyswaps within your course(s)?

Please complete the following intake form, expressing your interest by October 2, 2023.

I'm interested in using Bodyswaps with my students. What's next?

STEP 1 - review Modules

Visit the Bodyswaps library to review available modules and determine applicability for your course learning outcomes. Details such as target audience, learning objectives, approximate completion time, video trailers and more are provided for each module.

Step 2 - BECOME FAMILIAR WITH Bodyswaps

To learn more about incorporating Bodyswaps into your curriculum, please connect with us for a virtual or in-person meeting, or visit our PD calendar to attend an upcoming Bodyswaps session.

We also recommend that you go through the modules yourself to become comfortable with the content and ensure they are applicable for your students. In-person meetings and training sessions will provide an opportunity to use Bodyswaps in a VR headset. We can also provide you with access to a faculty demo account to review modules on your laptop or mobile device.

STEP 3 - RESERVE & PICK-UP THROUGH IT SERVICE DESK

Reserve headsets: Faculty must submit a ticket to the IT Service Desk by emailing sesrvicedesk@dc-ot.ca to reserve the VR headsets for the appropriate dates. This should be done well in advance to ensure the headsets are available. The set contains 8 VR headsets in a case with wheels and handle for easy transport.

Pick-up headsets: Prior to class, faculty can pick the headsets up from the IT Service Desk located in SW100. Ensure enough cleaning wipes have been included based on your class size. If using the headsets with multiple classes, ask for charging cables to charge in between classes.

STEP 4 - ARRANGE IN-CLASS SUPPORT (IF NEEDED)

If you are interested in having someone from CTL support the use of Bodyswaps with the VR headsets in-class, please connect with us to confirm availability and make arrangements. Support can be provided during CTL working hours.

STEP 5 - REVIEW & SHARE RESOURCES

Review the Bodyswaps resources below. You are welcome to share links to the applicable student resources with your class in DC Connect.

Using Bodyswaps in a VR Headset:

Accessible Option for Bodyswaps:

      • NEW! An iPad is now included in the VR headset wheelie case for accessibility purposes.
      • VR might not be suitable for all students. Mobile and desktop licensing of Bodyswaps is available to students who are unable to use a VR headset for reasons such as accessibility requirements, vision requirements or VR sickness.
      • How does accessible licensing work? Instructions are included in the VR headset wheelie case; or you can reach out to receive them in advance of your class. The instructions include a QR code that students can scan and gain access to a licensing code to use on their laptop, mobile device or on the iPad (included with the VR headsets).
      • Due to limited licensing availability, this can only be shared with students who are unable to use the VR headsets.
