New Program Development The identification of new programs for development is a strategic initiative facilitated by a collaborative and consultative process with expertise, input and support from community partners, industry stakeholders, Durham College faculty and staff, Executive Vice President, Academic, Academic Deans, and the CAFE. Once senior leadership approves direction, the new program development process is facilitated by the manager, Program and Curriculum Development who supports the development process identifying timelines, deliverables, and milestones, in addition to providing resources that will support quality curriculum design. New program development includes a number of key steps, completion of market research, a program proposal, credential validation, and Board of Governor’s and Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) approval. Key curriculum policies and procedures for new program development include: New Program Development and Approval – Quality Assurance (ACAD-104) Program Learning Outcomes (ACAD-120) Course Outlines (ACAD-108) Curriculum Development and Revision – Quality Assurance (ACAD-102) Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) (ADMIN-251) A variety of sessions and resources are available for every new program team, including existing faculty, contract faculty/subject matter experts, or contracted course outline developers.
