Course Last Assessed

This area defines the parameters for when students are flagged as "at-risk" based on the last date they accessed the course. It signals students when the date passes, and they are tagged as students with support indicators to be followed up with. While 10 days is the default set, this may be changed to an appropriate timeline for the course. For example, if the course is online asynchronous, 5 days may be a better aligned with course expectations. For courses with in-person components, accessing DC Connect within 10 days may be appropriate. Choose a date that is best for the flow of the course.

Student Grade Percentages

This area allows faculty to set the acceptable grade range colours to help students manage their progress in the course. By default, this is set in alignment with DC’s academic grading framework, but can be changed if the course has specific passing grades required (e.g. 60% to 70%). Faculty can enter the acceptable range by changing the boxes white boxes from the default percentage. The grey percentage boxes will change automatically to correctly build the colour ranges.

Dates

The date section focuses on two components, the last date to withdraw, and the midterm grade date. These are used to ensure that the gradebook is aligned with DC policy, more on this in the Gradebook Evaluation Requirements Section. This defaults to the dates in the Important Dates Calendar. If the course structure is compressed (e.g. apprenticeship), or the course start date does not align with the Important Dates Calendar (e.g. dual credit), these dates can be adjusted.
