Biomedical Engineering Technology

The healthcare industry both in Canada and globally demands new and innovative medical technologies to improve diagnosis, monitoring and treatment, with a focus on patient wellness. Healthcare providers are dependent on qualified biomedical engineering technologists to ensure the technology functions properly and is available and managed in a cost-effective and efficient manner. Graduates of this medical laboratory technologist program in Ontario manage and maintain the patient care medical devices and work closely with clinicians and other members of the healthcare team. 

Through the Biomedical Engineering Technology program, students will: 

  • Gain skills to assess current and innovative medical technology, as well as purchase, install, calibrate, maintain and manage the life cycle of critical medical equipment. 
  • Learn to liaise with and support the biomedical engineering technology needs of all levels of allied healthcare teams in a customer-focused manner, learning necessary soft skills required by industry.
