New Full-time Faculty Orientation

New Full-time Faculty Orientation is a multi-day professional development opportunity, hosted by the CTL, that aims to introduce new full-time (FT) faculty members to teaching at Durham College (DC). The program looks at science of learning principles, teaching strategies, curriculum, assessment, and educational technology, as well as introducing you to a variety of supports and departments available. It is designed to give new teachers the information and experience to begin in the DC classroom and models our philosophy of active and collaborative learning.

At the completion of orientation, attendees will have:

  • Met new colleagues
  • Met the CTL team
  • Reviewed college academic policies and procedures
  • Met with the President and Executive Vice President, Academic
  • Discussed the faculty members' role at DC, and
  • Started a teaching portfolio

Upcoming Sessions

Orientation sessions will be delivered in both face-to-face and remote formats to provide you with a range of participation experiences, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 4:30 p.m. each day:

  • Tuesday, August 20 - face-to-face (in person at the Oshawa campus)
  • Wednesday, August 21 - face-to-face (in person at the Whitby campus)
  • Thursday, August 22 - remote (online synchronous/asynchronous)
