About this class

After what has been arguably the most important gathering of our times, in which leaders from over 190 countries assembled for two weeks in Glasgow, Scotland, with scientists, activists, business leaders and others from across the world to address the warming of the planet at a time when every day now seems to bring news of yet another sudden flood or drought, wildfire or natural disaster, where do we go from here in our efforts to combat this deepening global predicament, the defining crisis of our times? Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish activist who has done much to raise awareness and mobilize worldwide action on climate change, has said that the two weeks in Glasgow produced only more “blah, blah, blah”. Is she right? Or have significant steps been made to ensure that the future that awaits young people in all parts of the world does not present even greater difficulties?
