The availability of more affordable and accessible digital technologies, which the pandemic has only accelerated, has led to more people in more parts of the world being able to share information and learn from institutions of learning and from each other more easily than at any time in history. But better, more available technology does not necessarily mean that the problems which have long stood in the way of young people being able to realize their potential – racism, poverty, social marginalization – become less important. When so much of our attention is concentrated on technological development, it might be said that they become even more important.
