How to Apply STEP 1: CHOOSE A PROGRAM AND CONFIRM Durham College (DC) offers over 140 full-time programs and is committed to relevant, engaging and industry-focused teaching. STEP 2: CHECK PROGRAM Every program has different requirements. Review the program requirements prior to applying to ensure eligibility. Search Programs STEP 3: CHECK COUNTRY REQUIREMENTS Check the specific country admission requirements and the English language proficiency score requirements prior to applying, if applicable. STEP 4: UPLOAD DOCUMENTS In preparation for submitting your application, the following information and documents will be required: High school (secondary school) transcript. High school (secondary school) diploma, if applicable. Post-secondary (college or university) transcript, if applicable. Post-secondary (college or university) degree, if applicable. This portal can be accessed here. On this portal, you can: View the status of your application to DC. Upload any outstanding or missing documents. See a record of any admission letters and important email correspondence from DC International Admissions. Confirm your admission offer at DC if you have received a letter of acceptance. Pay tuition fees (you must have first received a letter of acceptance and confirmed your admission in order to pay fees). View and print your official DC fee receipt once tuition fees are paid. View the given reason for refusal to individuals who have been declined admission to DC. *Make sure you allow internationalapplications@durhamcollege.ca as a safe sender on your email to ensure emails are not automatically placed in your junk folder. STEP 6: ACCEPT YOUR PROGRAM AND CONFIRM YOUR If your application is successful, your letter of acceptance will be available to view and print from your self-service log in portal. Accept your offer by confirming through the portal. Pay your tuition fee. To determine the cost of tuition per semester, view box 25 on page 2 of your letter of acceptance. Information on tuition fees for the full year can be found at the bottom of page 3 on your letter of acceptance. DC will issue an official fee receipt once the confirmation and fee payment has been received. This fee receipt should be included with your study permit application. Step 7: Apply for a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) A Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) is a supporting document provided by the province or territory where a student intends to study. PALs will be required for all study permit applications submitted on or after January 22, 2024, unless exempt. All students who have paid their first semester fees are asked to complete our PAL Eligibility Form. This form determines if you need a PAL, which we will request for you if necessary. Here is how to access the form: Visit your International self-service portal, Click on "Check status of application' under Helpful Links on the left-hand side of the page or the green Check Application Status box Sign in using your MyDC login. Your username is your DC student number and your password is your date of birth in the format MMDDYY (6 digits only). After you submit the form, a summary of your answers will be displayed, and you will receive a confirmation email. Please submit this form as soon as possible so that we can provide further assistance on your path to beginning your studies at Durham College! STEP 8 PREPARE TO TRAVEL In order to study at DC, international students will need to obtain a Canadian study permit, and temporary resident visa. Apply for the necessary documentation from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and notify us once you have received your study permit confirmation. Check your email for important information on how to prepare yourself for travel to Canada, including: Important dates for new international students, including the compulsory International Student Orientation. How to register for your timetable. Arrival services information (i.e., how to book airport pickup, temporary accommodation options, etc.) What to pack and bring with you to Canada. AFTER YOU APPLY YOU HAVE JUST SUBMITTED YOUR APPLICATION If your application was submitted successfully, you will receive a confirmation email. Within 14 business days, you will receive a second email with your student ID and your MyDC applicant portal login details. Once you receive your student ID, please allow a few business days for an admissions officer to update your application, remove unnecessary requirements, or add any missing requirements. Please include your student ID and a copy of your study permit. Step 4: Visit the Arrival Services website for everything you need to know about travelling to Canada. Step 5: Check your email for important pre-arrival information, which includes details on how to prepare for your studies in Canada (registration, health insurance, program delivery methods, etc.) Step 6: Participate in both the International Student Orientation and program orientation.
